Winter in Yellowstone

When I moved to Bozeman, Montana, I knew I wanted to spend as much time in Yellowstone National Park as possible. Our winters out here are long and a majority of the park closes down from November through May, however, the North entrance and road through Lamar Valley remains open to visitors. This post is about the absolute magic of the valley that I’m lucky to enjoy right in my backyard.

Every turn is scenic

Sunset is a great time to be driving through the park, and in the winter, the last light of the day often paints the sky, and snow, a beautiful shade of pink

Snowy animals of all sorts

Hands down my favorite part of Yellowstone is the wildlife. Bears are scarce in the winter, but there are so many opportunities to photograph animals like bison and elk.
